What is your idea of a perfect mate? What are some of the qualities you look for in a person when it comes to determining “The One”? These were some of the questions asked in this year’s Single Seminar held by Pastor Paul Jimenez.

When it comes to relationships we all have our own opinions and ideas on what we should look for in a person. Many of these ideas come from the world we live in today and the influences around us. Whether it is from a family member, a friend, or entertainment, all these things have shaped the way we look at dating.

But what does the Word of God say? The world focuses on what people look like on the outside but God focuses on what people look like on the inside, the condition of their heart.

1 Samuel 16:7 But the Lord said to Samuel, “do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

When looking for that special someone to share our life with it should not be limited to physical beauty. It should not be based on what we have or don’t have. What is more important is the type of relationship that person has with Jesus Christ.

I Peter 3:3-4, “Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as a braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.”

What type of prayer life does he or she have? Is he or she contending for the things of God? Physical beauty will fade over time but a person who loves the Lord will all their heart is a kind of beauty that will last forever.
